Anna Fjord

From Paris with Love

Luckily Anna Fjord was one of the labels shown at the “Genuss Modenschau” of apfelgrün zum Anziehen. Otherwise we would possibly not have come across the Parisian Designer who sells her designs in her shop in Montmartre and at apfelgrün. And this would have been a shame.

Anna Fjord that is feminine, colorful and joyful fashion for self confident and demanding women who are full of life. The designer loves to break with common styling rules which gives her combinations a very special and distinct touch.

Looking at the designs the palette is very broad. You will find 12 buttoned coats that make me think of 18th century riding jackets, elegant capes, classical skirts, light summer dresses and also semi transparent lace tops. What seems to be so different at first sight has one common baseline. All designs are based on a very classical and fitted cut. The variety is given by the use of fabric, colour and sometimes natural prints.

Anna, the woman behind the label, was born in Denmark. Even though she was very creative already at a young age she initially studied architectural design and later intended to study French rather than becoming a designer.
Her design career basically started when one of her professors loved a shirt she was wearing and asked her whether she could also sew it for her.

She did but however first continued studying French which eventually brought her to move to Paris as she wanted to better learn the language. She took a job as translator and besides this started sewing scarves and dresses in the evenings which she sold at a little shop in the Marais area. People loved her designs which brought Anna to eventually properly start her design career. Nine years ago she found a small place in Montmartre which still is her atelier and showroom at the same time. Starting as one women show today she has several tailors who help her produce her collection which is all basically made to measure and impresses not only by design but also by its quality and finishing.

Anna’s goal is now to steadily establish her label outside of Paris and Frankfurt so it will hopefully be available at more shops across Europe soon. For the time being it might be a good excuse to book a trip to Paris.

Anna’s source of strength and creativity is nature. This is not only where she would go in order to calm down and forget about the busy city life but also where she gets the inspiration for her designs. As to my opinion this is directly reflected in her current collection which actually feels like a summer outing.
